Rise of Kingdoms: “The King of All Britain” - the results of the first season and the new matchmaking order

Rise of Kingdoms: «Король всей Британии» — итоги первого сезона и новый порядок матчмейкинга

The October digest of Rise of.ru drew a line under the first full cycle of the “King of All Britain” scenario in the Season of Conquest: the map has been fully tested by the community, and the developers have already managed to break the matchmaking. Let's look at what has changed for an ordinary governor and how to prepare for the second season.

What has changed in patch 1.1.12.20

With the release of the October branch 1.1.12.20 (notes from September 22) for the plot of the third season - this is “The King of All Britain” - the choice of the starting province at the Eve of the Crusade stage was removed. Now camps are distributed automatically by matchmaking, and camp enhancements are awarded based on the total Eve of the Crusade point rating. For strong kingdoms, this means: the balance of power is decided in the first two days, and a cool start can no longer be saved.

Individual seasonal rewards were introduced as a separate line in the patch: limited titles are now given for personal performance in the Lost Kingdom. The debate “whether to drag sheep for the sake of the kingdom or save points for yourself” finally received an official answer - it can be done either way, but the title will remain only with those who fought.

Coalitions and splash damage: a mechanic that everyone underestimated

The main tactical takeaway from the first season concerns coalitions. Collections in the Season of Conquest are launched through secondary “fly-by-night” alliances: the target is hit by a crowd of small collections, and not two gigantic ones. The reason is simple - splash damage : massive attacks on one target are broken into an area of damage zone, and the denser the main alliance is, the more expensive it costs each hour of war. Changing a clan within a coalition on the fly allows you to take units away from the splash and return them with fresh buffs.

The second conclusion is about the composition. Universal “nukers” for five squads no longer guarantee anything: in a scenario with automatic distribution of camps, it is more profitable to assemble two or three specialized counter-pick squads and quickly rearrange them between directions than to chase five equally expensive squads.

What to do before the second season

  • Agree with your neighbors about the coalition and areas of responsibility before the start of matchmaking - after the automatic distribution of camps, it’s too late to bargain.
  • Make the most of the first day of Eve of the Crusade: they determine the buffs of the camp.
  • Raise at least one “tank” commander and one splash dealer to a working state - without them you won’t be able to survive a splash, nor will you be able to split someone else’s collection.
