KvK in Rise of Kingdoms: Beginner's Guide to the Lost Kingdom (2026)
Information is current as of August 2026.
KvK (Kingdom versus Kingdom) is the main long-term competition in Rise of Kingdoms and the reason most players develop their accounts at all. KvK is where the true cost of every decision shows: whom you leveled, what equipment you forged and how many resources you saved. This guide is for those heading into their first "crusade": how the Lost Kingdom works, what to do before the start and how not to burn your account in the very first week.
What KvK Is and How to Get There
KvK is a seasonal confrontation of several kingdoms on a separate Lost Kingdom map. Access opens from City Hall 16. Before the start, the "Eve of the Crusade" event runs — it grants entry to the map and starting bonuses. Seasons escalate: KvK 1, KvK 2, KvK 3, and then the Season of Conquest (SoC) with crystal technologies that radically shift the meta.
The goal is to advance from your corner of the map toward the center and capture the Lost Ziggurat. The rewards are not just pride: exclusive commanders (Charlemagne and Wu Zetian), unique items and buffs.
The Lost Kingdom Map: Zones and Passes
The map is built in layers: from the outer zones (LK1, level 4) to the central Ziggurat zone. The layers are separated by passes of levels 4, 5 and 6 — strategic choke points. Until your alliance controls a pass, there is no way through. Around the passes and the holy sites (temples and altars that buff the whole kingdom) the season's main battles unfold. Study the map in advance: understanding where each pass is and who holds it matters more than your march's personal strength.
Preparation: Checklist for 2–3 Weeks Before the Start
- Healing resources. Stock up on food, wood, stone and gold — in KvK hospitals work nonstop, and healing T4/T5 costs enormous volumes. The veterans' rule: never enter KvK without a resource cushion;
- Speedups. Don't spend them early — healing and training speedups will be needed at the hottest moment;
- Commander pairings. Decide your main march in advance and finish leveling it (see our commander pairings guide). One ready pairing beats three half-built ones;
- Troops. Full marches of your troop type, hospitals empty, no troops sitting dead on gathering nodes;
- Your role in the alliance. Discuss with the officers who you are this KvK: field fighter, rally joiner, structure garrison or support.
An important mail nuance: until you have teleported onto the KvK map, don't claim the system mail with crystals (in SoC). Claim it before teleporting — and you'll get gold instead of crystals.
What a Beginner Should Do in KvK: You Will Be Useful
The main beginner fear is "I'm too weak for KvK". It's a myth. Kingdoms are not won by whales alone:
- Season objectives. Take part in capturing holy sites and completing seasonal tasks — they grant points and buffs to the whole kingdom, and everyone is welcome;
- Rallies and garrisons. Join officers' rallies with your marches and reinforce structures on request — even a small squad raises capacity and damage;
- Farming and logistics. Gather resources on the LK map, send help to teammates, heal your troops and get back in line;
- Second-line field fights. In big brawls at the passes, even a weak march hitting enemy archers in the rear does its job.
Typical First-KvK Mistakes
- Teleporting alone onto enemy territory — you will be zeroed overnight; teleport only to your alliance's fortified territory;
- A city without a shield outside territory. Keep a peace shield up whenever you step away from the phone, and watch your shield on big battle days;
- Attacking solo. Solo attacks on cities burn your troops for nothing — fight in rallies or as part of a coordinated swarm;
- Full hospitals. When the hospital overflows, the wounded start dying permanently — heal constantly, don't stockpile the wounded;
- Ignoring diplomacy. Coalitions win KvK; if your kingdom fights alone against two — help execute the strategy instead of playing the hero.
What Veterans Advise: Community Opinions
In PocketGamer's guides and community discussions, newcomers are told one thing: "KvK is a marathon of months, not a one-week sprint. Don't burn all your troops in the first days for a pretty kill statistic." The authors of the big 2026 guides add: "Account power without healing resources and alliance coordination means nothing — a weak but disciplined player is more useful than a strong loner." And Reddit veterans advise treating the first KvK as training: "Watch how the officers organize rallies and movement through the passes — your second season you will play as a fighter, not a spectator."
In Short: the Essentials Before the Start
A stock of resources and speedups, one fully leveled commander pairing, a clear role in the alliance, teleports only to friendly territory, healing without delays and participation in every season objective. Do this — and your first KvK will become the best gaming experience in Rise of Kingdoms, not a disappointment.
