How to change your nickname in Roblox, recover your password and protect your account

We look at the three most common problems with a Roblox account: how to change your nickname (and why there are two different “names”), how to recover your password if it is forgotten or your account is stolen, and how to protect your account so that recovery is not needed at all.

Nickname and Display Name: What's the Difference?

There are two names in Roblox, and they are often confused:

Username— a unique login with which you log into your account and which is visible in the link to your profile. Changes over1000 robuxevery time, there are no free attempts.
Display Name- the name that other players see in games and chats. Changesfree, but no more than once every 7 days, and does not have to be unique.

How to change nickname in Roblox

If you just want a different name in the game, change the Display Name for free:

On your PC, click the gear icon → Settings, on your phone, click the “More” button (three dots).
Open the Account Info tab.
Click the pencil next to Display Name, enter a new name, and save.

If you need a new login (Username):

Settings → Account Info → pencil next to Username.
Enter a new unique login and current password.
Confirm the debit of 1000 Robux.

Nuances: the old login remains visible in the profile history; you can return to your previous login, but it again costs 1000 robux; The new login must be free and comply with the community rules.

How to recover your password

It is impossible to view the current password in Roblox - it is not shown anywhere, not even in support. Forgot - just reset:

Via mail

On the login page, click “Forgot Password or Username?”
Enter your linked email or login and click “Submit”.
Check your mail (be sure to look at Spam) - you will receive a letter with a six-digit code.
Enter the code and set a new password.

Via phone

If a number is linked to your account: on the recovery page, select the phone tab, enter the number, receive an SMS with a code and set a new password. In the mobile application, the path is the same through “I don’t remember my username.”

No access to email or phone

Official support for Roblox remains: form on the website, category “Account Hacked or Can't Log in”. To confirm ownership, provide as many details as possible: login, date of birth from your account, first linked email, purchase data (last card digits, gift card codes, payment dates). The answer usually comes in 1–3 days; the entire procedure can take up to two weeks.

If your account is hacked

Reset your password immediately via the linked email before the hacker changes it.
In the Security settings, click “Log out of all other sessions”.
Check and return your linked email and phone number.
Enable two-factor authentication (preferably through an authenticator app) and save backup codes.
Check the history of purchases and transfers of Robux; if something is stolen, write to support; after the first hack, valuables are often returned.

How to protect your account in advance

Link and confirm your email and phone - without them, recovery turns into a lottery.
Enable 2FA and, if your device supports, Passkey login.
A unique password that is not used on any other site.
Do not tell anyone your login, password and codes from letters - “Roblox administration” in a personal message is always fake.
Never enter data on third-party sites and do not transfer .ROBLOSECURITY cookies to anyone - they can be used to hijack your account without a password.
Do not install “cheats” and “scripts on Robux” - these are stealers.
