Roblox won't start: error codes 279, 529, 277 - how to fix

Roblox не запускается: коды ошибок 279, 529, 277 — как исправить

Information is current as of August 2026.

If Roblox does not start, crashes when entering the game, or shows an error code, in most cases the problem can be solved yourself in a few minutes. Below are the most common errors and universal fixes on PC and phone.

Error 279 - Connection Failure

Error 279 (Failed to connect to the Game, ID=17) means that the client was unable to connect to the game server. Reasons: unstable Internet, blocking by a firewall or antivirus, problems with DNS.

What to do:

  1. Reboot the router and device - this solves most isolated failures.
  2. If possible, connect via cable instead of Wi-Fi or switch to another network (for example, share the Internet from your phone) to avoid provider blocking.
  3. Add Roblox to your Windows Firewall and Antivirus exceptions, or temporarily disable them to check.
  4. Change DNS to public from Google: primary 8.8.8.8, secondary 8.8.4.4.
  5. Clear your browser cache if you play via the web version and try a different browser.

Error 529 - technical work on servers

Error 529 appears when Roblox servers are overloaded or are undergoing maintenance. There's nothing wrong on your end here—the client just can't get an answer.

What to do:

  1. Check the status of the servers on the page status.roblox.com - if there is an incident, all you can do is wait.
  2. Try logging in later and don't restart the game dozens of times in a row - this only adds to the load.
  3. If the servers are running and the error remains, follow the steps in the section about error 279.

Error 277 - Lost Connection

Error 277 (Lost connection to the game server) throws a player out of a running game. Usually, unstable internet, outdated network drivers, or damaged client files are to blame.

What to do:

  1. Check the connection stability: packet loss is more important than speed. Try cable instead of Wi-Fi.
  2. Change DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.
  3. Completely uninstall Roblox and reinstall it from the official website - this will restore damaged files.
  4. Update network drivers on your PC.

Roblox won't launch at all

If the client does not open, hangs on the splash screen or closes without an error:

  1. Reboot your device.
  2. Check the date and time - if the date is incorrect, the secure connection will break.
  3. Update the system: Windows must have the latest updates, and the phone must have the current version of the application from the store.
  4. On your PC, run Roblox as an administrator and check that your antivirus is not blocking it.
  5. Clear the cache: on Windows, delete the contents of the %Temp%\Roblox folder; on Android, clear the application cache in the settings.
  6. If all else fails, reinstall the game completely.

When to write to support

If the error persists across different devices and networks, please contact Roblox official support. To process your request faster, attach the exact text and error code (for example, ID=17), indicate the device and list what you have already tried: changing DNS, reinstalling, setting up the firewall.
