Archaeological digs in Rise of Kingdoms: how to knock out legendary drawings with hammers (2026)
Today, September 26, a two-day Archaeological Excavation event started in Rise of Kingdoms - one of the main sources of legendary fragments of equipment blueprints. The next event on the calendar is scheduled for October 24–25, so even if you miss the current one, it’s worth saving up hammers now. Let's look at how to get the most out of excavations without wasting gems.
How to get hammers for free
The main resource of the event is excavation hammers. For each launch you can collect up to 28 tasks for free and a few more starting ones:
- Collection on the map - 1 hammer per visit to a resource point from which at least 500,000 resources (up to 10 pieces) have been collected at a time;
- Battles with barbarians - 1 hammer for every 5 defeated barbarian units (up to 10 units);
- Barbarian forts - 1 hammer for each destroyed fort (up to 8 pieces).
That adds up to about 30 free hammers per launch, enough to start saving without spending a single gem.
How zones work and where are the legendary drawings?
Before excavating each zone, you need to choose its main reward - until it is found, the choice can be changed without losing progress. In regular zones, the choice is limited to epic materials by slots or accelerations, but zones with a number divisible by five (5, 10, 15 and so on) are mystical treasure zones: only there you can pick up a legendary piece of equipment blueprint.
In terms of probability, on average it takes about 13 attempts for one zone and about 65 for a bonus zone. Practical conclusion: save up to 90 hammers, this will be enough to complete the bonus level with a reserve.
What does the bonus zone give?
- 13,000 gems and 5 crystal keys;
- 80 hours of universal accelerations and another 5 hours of accelerations for construction, research, training and treatment;
- 600 basic materials and 200 basic bones for equipment;
- 21,500,000 resources, 125,000 experience, 24 epic and 8 legendary fragments to choose from.
Should I spend gems?
One hammer in the event store costs 200 gems and is limited to a daily limit; Bountiful Archeology I–V sets (€4.99 to €99.99) provide a value bonus of up to +898%, but each is only available once per run. The optimal strategy looks like this: do not pay gems for the first 1–4 zones - their value is low; accumulate hammers up to 90, take the bonus zone and save again for the next launch. Unused hammers are stored in the inventory between starts, and rulers with a town hall of level 8 or higher can participate.
