Ivan the Terrible in Rise of Kingdoms: New Legendary Cavalry Commander (2026)
In August 2026, Lilith Games developers introduced a new legendary commander to Rise of Kingdoms — Ivan IV (Ivan the Terrible). This is one of the most anticipated releases of update 1.1.10 "Starry Rendezvous," which completely changes the cavalry meta. Passive Skill "Triumph at Molodi" — every additional normal attack against the same target in a single turn grants 15 Rage and 1 stack of Tsar's Authority. This is the engine that feeds the entire kit.
Passive Skill "Oprichniki Campaign" — cavalry gains +30% Health. Upon entering battle (and again 10 seconds after leaving a structure), immediately receive 2-6 Tsar's Decree buffs. Combo attacks have a 30% chance to apply Terror for 4 seconds (-30% enemy Attack, -20% enemy March Speed).
Expertise Skill "First Tsar" — holding 4 or more Tsar's Decree buffs increases combo-attack damage by 15%. Consuming more than 3 Authority stacks on Ivory Throne grants extra buffs.

The most recommended pairing is Arthur Pendragon (Primary) + Ivan IV (Secondary). Arthur generates extra combo attacks that feed Ivan's Authority engine, while Ivan provides Arthur with incredible survivability through +50% Defense and +30% Health. Both actives fire in sequence for four powerful combo hits in a short window.
Alternative options:
- Achilles + Ivan IV — high raw damage, works exceptionally well with Delta equipment sets
- Gang Gamchan + Ivan IV — one of the tankiest pure cavalry marches available
Skill Investment Priority
Recommended order: Active skill to 5 → Triumph at Molodi to 5 → Gilded Saddle to 5 → Oprichniki Campaign to 5 → Expertise. Even at 5-5-5-1, Ivan outperforms many older cavalry options.
