Pakal II — a legendary commander in Rise of Kingdoms (specializations: “Infantry,” “Conquest,” and “Defense”). The great ruler of Palenque is a tank-like infantry unit: shields, increased defense, and damage that scales with enemy losses. The cornerstone of defensive infantry marches.

Historical Background

K’inich Janaab’ Pakal was the ruler of the Mayan city of Palenque, who ascended to the throne at age 12 and reigned for 68 years. His tomb in the Temple of the Inscriptions is one of the greatest discoveries in Mayan archaeology.

Players say: Pakal is “the next-gen Richard of the infantry.” He has high survivability, and his shields absorb enemy nukes. While he falls short of nukers in raw damage, he’s indispensable in prolonged battles over objectives.

Tips

Place Pakal as the lead unit in marches that will draw the enemy’s fire. His shields work best against nukers—feel free to face off against Kir and Xiang Yu.
