Gorgo is a legendary commander in Rise of Kingdoms (specializing in “Infantry,” “Garrison,” and “Defense”). The Queen of Sparta, wife of Leonidas, is a defensive infantry unit: her tenacity in unequal battles is worthy of the woman who said, “We give birth to men.” She becomes stronger when facing superior forces.

Historical Background

Gorgo was the daughter of King Cleomenes, the wife of Leonidas I, and the only woman in Spartan history to play a political role. Her aphorism, “We alone bear men,” became a classic of antiquity.

Tips

Gorgo shines where the enemy is always stronger: flags along the attack route, and chokepoints. In evenly matched battles, her passives are dormant—don’t place her in “comfortable” garrisons.
