“Minecraft won’t start” is the most discussed topic in the Russian-speaking Minecraft community: topics with this problem on Microsoft forums, in VK groups and under videos on YouTube collect thousands of comments. We analyzed hundreds of such requests and collected solutions to all common errors in one article.

Step 1: Launch the vanilla version

The first thing they recommend on the forums (and what actually works): select the “Latest release” setting in the launcher without Forge, Fabric and OptiFine. If a clean game starts, the problem is with mods or shaders, and not with Minecraft. Then turn off the mods one by one and find the culprit: most often it is a mod for a different version of the game or a conflict between two mods.

Error 1 (exit code 1) - the most common

Check the path to the game.The Cyrillic alphabet in the Windows username (“C:\Users\Vasya”) breaks the launch - move .minecraft to a folder without Russian letters or add the --workDir parameter to the shortcut.
Allocate more memory.Insufficient RAM for assembling with mods gives the same error code: in the launcher settings, raise the limit to 4-6 GB.
Disable overlays.Discord, GeForce Experience, MSI Afterburner and antivirus regularly interfere with startup.

These are usually shaders or incompatible resource packs: remove them from the shaderpacks and resourcepacks folders. Resetting the video settings also helps - delete the options.txt file in the .minecraft folder (the settings will return to standard).

Crashes after a few minutes of play

The classic reason is overheating or lack of memory for loading chunks. Reduce the rendering distance to 8-10 chunks, close the browser with dozens of tabs and check the temperature of the laptop: on weak machines, Minecraft runs into throttling.

Login and skins errors

“Login failed”, broken skins and inaccessible Mojang servers - check if your antivirus or provider is blocking the authorization servers. Logging out of your account and logging back into the launcher solves most of these cases.
