How the PIT System Works in Genshin Impact

What Are Soft and Hard Pity Mechanics?
- A hard pull is a guaranteed drop: on the 90th character banner spin (or the 80th weapon banner spin), a legendary item will drop without fail.
- A soft pull—starting around the 75th spin, the chance of getting a Legendary increases sharply with each pull, which is why most players get a “five-star” between the 75th and 83rd spins, rather than on the 90th.
- 50/50: The first legendary on an event banner is an event character with a 50% chance. If you didn’t get it (you got Diluc, Mona, Ke Qing, etc.)—the next Legendary is guaranteed to be an event character. This is the “guarantee.”
- Rollover: The counter and the “guarantee” carry over between event character banners. If you didn’t manage to get the character, your pulls don’t go to waste.
- One pull costs 160 Primogems. 90 pulls = 14,400 Primogems; the event character guarantee, in the worst-case scenario, costs 28,800 Primogems.
How to check your current PTI
- Open “Prayers” in the game and go to the desired banner.
- Tap the “History” button (the clock icon at the bottom).
- Count the spins since your last legendary pull: there are 6 entries per page in the history.
- Enter this number into the calculator above.
Tips for Saving Up
- Don’t spin “just for the thrill of it” if you’re saving up for a specific character: every spin after the 75th on a different banner risks “eating up” your PTI.
- Batch pulls of 10 do not increase the chance of a Legendary character, but they guarantee a 4-star reward every 10 pulls.
- Keep an eye out for Genshin Impact promo codes—the developers regularly give away rewards during streams and events.
- Free pulls from a patch (events, the Abyss, daily quests, BP) are usually enough for 60–80 wishes—plan your banners in advance.
These calculations are based on Genshin Impact’s official gacha mechanics. The base drop rate for a Legendary is 0.6%; with soft gacha, it increases to ~100% by the 90th pull.
