CD Projekt RED has unveiled the first trailer for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Songs of the Past at Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live. This is a full-fledged expansion comparable in scope to Blood and Wine.

## What Was Shown

The trailer sees Geralt of Rivia return to the Path. The expansion's story unfolds in an entirely new region filled with unknown monsters and mysteries. According to developers, this is Geralt's final adventure before the saga moves to Ciri in The Witcher 4.

CD Projekt RED's Miles Tost explained that Songs of the Past was an idea the team had been developing for years but couldn't realize until now. The expansion adds:

— A vast new region to explore- Unique enemies and bosses- Additional activities and side quests- New Gwent cards- A dark secret Geralt must uncover

## Technical Upgrades

Alongside the expansion, CD Projekt RED announced an updated version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt with enhanced graphics and gameplay. The upgrade will be free for all base game owners.

## Release Date

Songs of the Past launches in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The exact release date has not been announced yet.

Gamescom attendees can experience the expansion firsthand at the CD Projekt RED booth in the business area (Hall 4.2, Booth B065) from August 26-28 and in the entertainment area (Hall 8.1, Booths B030 and A031) from August 26-30.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, released in 2015, has sold over 65 million copies and won more than 250 Game of the Year awards.
