The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered is out for free
CD PROJEKT RED has released The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered, an updated edition of one of the most famous RPGs of the last decade. The main feature of the release: the upgrade is free for everyone who already owns the game on PC (GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S or Nintendo Switch 2. And those who did not have the “Hearts of Stone” and “Blood and Wine” add-ons will receive them without additional payment.
What has changed
- Graphics - updated lighting, textures and effects; On PS5 Pro, console support is implemented natively.
- Combat system - new finishing animations and updated effects of witcher signs.
- Movement - Reworked climbing and climbing mechanics.
- Monster behavior - more aggressive and varied enemy patterns.
- New skill tree - expanded leveling system.
- Transmogrification - the appearance of any set can be combined with the characteristics of another.
- Photo mode has been significantly expanded.
On Xbox, the game supports Play Anywhere: purchasing on the console gives access to the PC version with shared progress and achievements.
Why did CDPR do this?
Such a generous policy is rare in the AAA industry, where remasters are usually sold separately. Obviously, the publisher is preparing the ground for The Witcher 4 with Ciri in the title role, which the studio is aiming for 2028: a fresh version of the “troika” will allow newcomers to get acquainted with the saga, and veterans to return to the Continent in an updated form.
