Onimusha: Way of the Sword will be released on September 25: Capcom action game about hunting demons

Capcom has confirmed that Onimusha: Way of the Sword will release on September 25, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The project brings back the cult series of action games about hunting demons and combines the setting of feudal Japan with cinematic battles.

What is known about the game

Way of the Sword builds on the legacy of the original Onimusha trilogy: the player will have to fight demonic forces using katanas and dual soul absorption mechanics. The trailers shown show an emphasis on fast-paced combat, including fights with large oni in the spirit of Japanese folklore.

Capcom is positioning the project as a full-fledged revival of the series for modern platforms - with a new hero and an updated combat system that relies on classic techniques of the franchise.

Demo version

A demo of Onimusha: Way of the Sword is already available for PlayStation 5, and completing it will reward you with a bonus amulet for the full release. The game releases September 25, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
