Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 - release date, campaign and new DMZ mode (2026)

Activision and Infinity Ward have officially unveiled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. The release is set for October 23, 2026. The project will be the fourth part of the relaunched Modern Warfare subseries and will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC (Steam, Battle.net) and for the first time in many years on the Nintendo console - Switch 2.

The story campaign will continue the story of Modern Warfare 3 (2023) and will unfold against the backdrop of the conflict between North and South Korea. Multiplayer and the return of the DMZ

Infinity Ward has announced that Modern Warfare 4's multiplayer will return to a more grounded pace of combat. The team abandoned some of the controversial decisions of Modern Warfare 3 and focused on pure gunplay. The leaks mention softer penalties for ADS and a reduced role for sliding.

Of particular note is the return of the DMZ mode, which first appeared in Modern Warfare 2 (2022). The new version will receive full-fledged story missions, side operations and free movement around the Hajin Exclusion Zone. The developers took into account the feedback from the original beta and redesigned the FOB progression system.
