Standoff 2 — Beginner's Guide 2026: Settings, Weapons, and Tactics
Standoff 2 is the most popular Counter-Strike-style mobile shooter: bomb-planting rounds, an in-game economy, precise recoil control, and a ranking system. The game is unforgiving to newbies, but with the right settings and a solid grasp of the basics, you’ll make rapid progress. Let’s break it down step by step.
Settings: You Can’t Do Without Them
- Graphics: minimal visuals, maximum FPS. Turn off shadows and unnecessary effects, and set the frame rate to the maximum—in a firefight, milliseconds make all the difference;
- Sensitivity: Start with low to medium and increase gradually. Set a separate sensitivity for aiming down sights (ADS), slightly lower than the main one—this makes it easier to control spread;
- Sights: Enable a static crosshair without expansion—it’s easier to track recoil;
- Control scheme: Use at least 3–4 fingers: fire and aim on opposite sides of the screen, with jump and crouch right at your fingertips;
- Auto-fire: Turn it off as soon as you get the hang of it—manual fire is always more accurate.
Weapons: What to Buy
The economy in Standoff 2 is almost like in CS: you earn money per round and buy gear before the start. Current tier list:
- AKR (S+) — the king of assault rifles for the third season in a row: 36 damage to the body, ideal at medium and long ranges, price 2,700. Downside: severe recoil on the first few rounds;
- M4 (S) — the AKR’s main competitor: smoother recoil, forgiving spray, but more expensive (2,900) and weaker at long range. The best rifle for beginners;
- AWM (S) — a single-shot sniper rifle (115+ damage), the most expensive weapon in the game (4,500). Only pick this up if you’re playing as the team sniper and holding a position;
- Desert Eagle — the best pistol: kills an armored player with a single well-aimed shot;
- P90 and UMP-45 — solid options for economy rounds, but the P90 was slightly nerfed after patch 0.38.0.
Beginner’s setup: M4 + Desert Eagle. Practice controlling your spread over 50 rounds—this is the foundation of the entire game.
Economics: When to Buy, When to Save
- First round—pistol round: Spend everything on armor or a Desert Eagle;
- If you lost the round and are low on money—eco round: don’t buy anything or just get a pistol; save up for a full buy;
- Full loadout—rifle + armor + grenades: try to get there as a team at the same time;
- Don’t go for a full loadout solo: if the team is saving up, save up too. One player with an AKR won’t beat five.
Tactics: How to Win Rounds
- Learn the maps: start with the classics (Sandstone, Province, Zone 9)—know the drop spots, line-of-sight paths, and standard sniper positions;
- Shoot while standing still: accuracy drops dramatically when moving. Stop → shoot → move again (counter-strafe);
- Hold the corners instead of running toward sounds: in defense, a static position is stronger than aggression—let the enemy come into your line of sight;
- Play around the bomb: On offense, don’t spread out after planting—hold the approaches to the site; on defense, listen and don’t rush to defuse without cover;
- Communicate: even simple pings and short calls like “two on B” win rounds.
How to Climb the Ranks
Your rank in Standoff 2 grows from consistency, not from a single brilliant game: play 2–3 maps that you know perfectly, keep your K/D ratio around one at a minimum, and play to win the round, not for frags. You can’t avoid smurfs and weak teammates at lower ranks—take on a role that makes a difference: an entry fragger on offense or a sniper on defense.
