The Blood of Dawnwalker Walkthrough: All Bosses, Endings and Tips (2026)

The Blood of Dawnwalker is a dark action RPG from Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by former CD Projekt RED developers (The Witcher 3). It launched on September 3, 2026, and its core mechanic immediately forces a choice: you have 30 in-game days to save Coen's family from the vampire prince Brencis. In this walkthrough: how days work, the order in which to defeat the Court boyars, how to beat every boss, and how to unlock all endings.

The Blood of Dawnwalker — combat in the Vale Sangora valley

How the walkthrough is structured

After the prologue, the Vale Sangora valley opens up and you are free to go anywhere. Time does not pass on its own — days are spent like currency on quests and certain dialogues. The goal is to sabotage the affairs of three vampire boyars from the Court menu: Ambrus, Bakir and Xanthe. The more chaos you cause in their domains, the higher their wrath; at maximum wrath their boss duel unlocks. Defeat all three and you draw out the main antagonist — Brencis.

  • Recommended boss order: Ambrus (level 1+) → Bakir (20+) → Xanthe (25+).
  • Journal icons: blue clock — the task is time-sensitive; sun — daytime only; moon — nighttime only.
  • The main story takes 7–10 days, leaving plenty of time for side content — there are dozens of quests in the valley.
  • The game supports 54 manual save slots — use them every few quests and make a save after defeating the three boyars: every ending branches from that point.

Stage 1. Ambrus, the Prince's Right Fist (level 1+)

Ambrus controls the valley's human blood supply — caravans, camps and wine cellars. Court activities: Bloody Business, Roadside Surprise, Under Watchful Eyes (also completes The Firebrand quest), Bounty of the Mire, Wetland Helpers, Unsavoury Solutions, Lucky Crossing, Fate's Mercy, Seeing Red, Uninvited, Trouble Brewing, and Ambrus's dungeons.

Boss: a one-on-one duel. Ambrus is a fencer: teleporting Cleaving Lunges, the Eightfold Slice combo and the Scarlet Shield, which heals him if you attack into it. The key is a perfect block into riposte (Peerless Bladesman can only be broken this way). At low health he starts the Terror in the Shadows teleport series — don't get greedy with dodges.

Secret: through The Gilded Gauntlet / The Bittersweet Toast chain you can poison Ambrus before the duel — the fight becomes noticeably easier.

Stage 2. Bakir, the Mad Khan (level 20+)

The former ruler of a forgotten khanate who entertains himself with deadly games. Before the duel, don't miss the hidden chain in the village of Uriash: A Friend Like This → Song of the Mountain → A Mother's Plea → The Heart Wants What It Wants. It is easy to fail by starting the "wrong" quests first.

Boss: The Lunar Game quest — a battle royale where you start with mediocre gear and cannot use vampire abilities: Bakir kicks you out if he gets suspicious. Attacks: the Fists of Fury barrage up close, teleporting Flying Kick, and the Ground Cascade blood wave, which is easy to jump over from the side.

Stage 3. Xanthe, the Dark Lady (level 25+)

A sorceress experimenting on humans. The finale of her branch is The Cycle of Love quest in the Howling Keep: use lanterns to move between rooms and prepare for a magic duel.

Xanthe's abilities: Wicked Tendrils (block by pressing the correct direction — after several blocks she is stunned), exploding Boiling Blood glyphs, Life Leech, and Life Orbs — at health thresholds she summons orbs that heal her: destroy them first. In the final stretch she adds the point-blank Blood Rush dash with glyphs.

Tip: you can meet Xanthe early at night in the Svartrau cathedral — a Death From Above attack from above chunks a good portion of her health at the start.

Finale: Brencis, Prince of Vale Sangora

After three victories your infamy is maxed out and Brencis invites you to a parliament — the Devil's Bargain quest. You can fight him here, but it's one of the worst branches (see endings below). The main finale is the assault on Greifberg Castle, and there are three paths:

  • Solo (Lone Wolf's Hunt): cross the wall at night with Shadow Step or enter by day with the password from Father Florin's quest chain (In the Name of the Father / A Hero's End).
  • With Lacra (Midnight Reckoning): through the ancient ruins beneath the castle — Lacra will destroy Brencis's ritual but flood the keep with chaos. Complete her optional quest The Night of Horrors (mandrake), otherwise Lacra can die in the final battle.
  • With Crake and the Manumits (Rise at Dawn → Fall Before Dusk): through the tunnels, with Catalin Dragesti's army. Warning: Dragesti is cruel — your decisions on his path (endure/save, object/silent) determine who survives to reach the throne room.

Boss: first Brencis's human form, then he drags you into Anahora — the vampire hell — and transforms into the Grotesque Ascendant form: multi-limbed unblockable combos, the Belching Blood stream and Displacement teleports. If you "invited the souls" of the boyars instead of killing them after their duels, Ambrus, Bakir and Xanthe materialize in Anahora and help you fight.

After the finale there is no free-roam or NG+ — only the epilogue remains, so finish everything in the valley beforehand.

All endings

The game has more than ten outcomes and variations, and all of them can be reached from a single save before the finale. The main ones:

Coen, the hero of The Blood of Dawnwalker

EndingHow to get it
A Hero They Deserve (secret)After the prologue go to Briar Sloughs, cross the ruined bridge at night via Planeshift and Shadowstep along the Coward's Path and choose "leave the valley forever". You abandon your family
Together Forever (secret)In the Home Sweet Home quest (Silts Tower) ignore the well, complete the loop 4 times and stay "home" with your family — Coen remains trapped in the illusion forever
Beating Brencis in the prologue (secret)Practically impossible: defeat him in Bad Blood in both forms. Grants the Folk Hero achievement
Time's up (bad)Fail within 30 days: Brencis sacrifices your family and the goal shifts to revenge
The Folk Hero (good)Assault Greifberg alone, refuse all bargains and defeat Brencis yourself
The Patricide (good, Lacra)Chain: A Friend Like This → Song of the Mountain → Hive and Seek → Our Rotten Roots (+ The Night of Horrors to keep Lacra alive) → Midnight Reckoning; choose to fight at the finale
The Knyazmaker (good, Crake)Chain: The Firebrand → Shadows in the Woods → Where Loyalty Lies → What Hunts the Night → What Moves the Dead → Who Pulls the Strings → Rise at Dawn → Fall Before Dusk
The TurncoatSell out the Manumits' hideout or Lacra to Brencis in exchange for your family
A Bad Time for a DuelAttack Brencis at the parliament: your father dies and the family cannot be saved

The good endings lead to an epilogue in Laslea showing the fate of every character you met, and a post-credits scene set in the present day: Coen is still alive, with a sequel teaser around Lunka.

Key tips

  • Don't kill neutral NPCs and quest givers — you can permanently lock quest chains and even endings.
  • Before Court bosses equip legendary weapons and armor and review your perks.
  • A skull icon above an enemy = unblockable attack (dodge); a shield = block or perfect parry.
  • Focus mode (L2/LT) highlights tracks and interactive objects in yellow — it also reveals hidden quests like A Mother's Plea.
  • Drinking a boyar's blood grants unique vampire abilities; "inviting their soul" grants help in the final battle. The choice is permanent for that save.

FAQ

Can I do quests in any order? Yes — after the prologue the whole valley is open. The only constraint is days: every quest costs time segments.

What happens if I run out of the 30 days? The bad ending triggers: Brencis sacrifices your family and you continue for revenge. The story does not end abruptly.

Is there anything after the final boss? No: after Brencis there is only the epilogue and credits. Finish side quests and collectibles before assaulting Greifberg.

How many endings are there? Three secret ones, several bad ones and three main good ones (The Folk Hero, The Patricide, The Knyazmaker) — all reachable from one save before the finale.
