Silent Hill: Townfall walkthrough: surviving St. Amelia
Silent Hill: Townfall is a standalone full-length first-person psychological horror game. It was released on September 24, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store); in some time zones Steam shows September 23 due to digital unlock timing. Developed by the Scottish studio Screen Burn Interactive (Stories Untold, Observation), published by Konami and Annapurna Interactive. The story takes place in 1996 on St. Amelia island, where the protagonist Simon Ordell returns to "put things right." Below is a full walkthrough: survival basics, early hours, monsters and tips. Spoilers ahead.
Basics: what to know before meeting your first monster
- CRTV is your main tool. The portable TV tunes into unstable signals: it hints where monsters lurk, points to clues and helps solve puzzles. Turn the dial and listen to the white noise.
- Physical map. Navigate by a paper map of the island — there is no breadcrumb trail marker here.
- Limited arsenal. A wooden plank and a revolver are not a heroic loadout. Some creatures are better left alone: sometimes the right answer is stealth or running away.
- The town changes. St. Amelia exists in normal and nightmare states: routes and dangers change after the shift.
- Fragments of the past. "Risen from the deep" fragments of the island's history are scattered around — collect them to understand Simon's connection to the place.
First hours: arriving on St. Amelia
- The island's call. Simon arrives on St. Amelia answering a mysterious summons. He "does not remember" the place, yet the locals recognize him — and that is the game's first surprise.
- Learning the CRTV. The tutorial teaches you to read the signals: white noise, roars and interference mean different danger levels. Turn the dial and listen.
- The first shift. The island periodically "falls" into its nightmare state: routes change and familiar streets turn into a maze. Memorize the foggy version of town — the nightmare version builds on its layout.
Monsters and how to survive
The creatures of St. Amelia rise from the white noise — you see their silhouettes through the CRTV before you see them in the fog. The rules are simple: large creatures with long, telegraphed attacks can be beaten with the plank after a dodge; small pack creatures are best shot with the revolver; and whatever makes the CRTV roar across the whole screen is better avoided — in that encounter the right answer is to run.
Island puzzles and mysteries
Townfall's puzzles revolve around the CRTV: tuning to the right channel, reading call signs and matching what you hear against the paper map. The main rule: if you are stuck — turn on the CRTV and circle the location; the signal changes as you get closer to the goal. The fragments of the past "risen from the deep" are not puzzles themselves, but they accumulate in Simon's archive and reveal why he returned to the island.
Endings
The game releases on September 24, 2026. Our breakdown of the finale and all endings will be added to this article right after release — the update lands the same day.
Tips
- Keep the CRTV on in new districts: the signal changes near danger and stashes.
- Spend revolver ammo only on enemies you cannot sneak past — the plank breaks.
- Memorize the foggy version of the streets: the nightmare version builds on the same layout, with surprises.
- Save after every fragment of the past: it is both a progress checkpoint and lore.
- If the CRTV signal dissolves into a roar — walk away quietly, do not find out what is in the fog.
