Serious Sam: Shatterverse — Co-op Roguelite from Dead by Daylight Creators Releases August 31 (2026)
Serious Sam: Shatterverse will release on August 31, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. What's unusual is that development is handled by Behaviour Interactive — the studio known for Dead by Daylight, not Croteam, who created the original series.
Genre and Gameplay
Shatterverse is a cooperative shooter with roguelite elements. Up to five players take on roles of Serious Sam from different universes and fight waves of enemies on procedurally generated arenas. After each run, weapon and ability upgrades are available.
Multiplayer Mode
The key feature is a co-op system for five players. Players can combine unique skills of different Sam versions to create powerful synergies. John Dick returns, having voiced the protagonist in all previous games in the series.
25th Anniversary
The game was announced as part of the Serious Sam 25th anniversary celebration in March 2026. Devolver Digital is the publisher, and the project has received the blessing of franchise creators from Croteam.
Conclusion
Serious Sam: Shatterverse will be an interesting experiment for the series, for the first time going beyond the classic first-person shooter formula.
