RetroSpace is out: a crazy disco-punk shooter about a station inside a black hole
The Wild Gentlemen, known for the noir detective Chicken Police, have released a new game - RetroSpace. The release took place on October 1, 2026 on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, published by the British company Kwalee.
RetroSpace is an immersive first-person shooter with immersive sim elements in a “disco-punk space horror” setting. Visually, the game references the science fiction of the 1960s and 1970s: elongated silhouettes, plastic, neon and the signature mustache.
Plot and gameplay
The action takes place in 2177. The city's spaceship goes off course and is swallowed up by a sentient black hole. The main character is an ordinary cleaner who will become the last hope of survivors on board the station.
Levels can be completed in different ways: act secretly, like a “cunning sneak”, or turn into a “mutant action hero”. The player sets traps on gas pipelines, sets enemies on fire, uses objects as shields and stuns enemies. The environment dynamically reacts to actions, and time jumps enhance the surreal atmosphere of a ship stuck inside a space anomaly.
Where to play
Before the release, a free demo of RetroSpace was available on Steam - from it you could evaluate the style and mechanics of the game in advance. The full version was released on PC, PS5, Xbox Series and Switch 2.
