Over the Hill - off-road wildlife expeditions from the author of Art of Rally start on October 14
Funselektor studio, known for its minimalist racing art of rally, has announced the exact release date of its new game. Over the Hill launches on October 14, 2026 on PC via Steam—the team's first fully 3D open world, which it is working on with Strelka Games.
A relaxed alternative to SnowRunner
Over the Hill is not a race, but a leisurely exploration of the wilderness. The player gets behind the wheel of SUVs from the 1960s to 1980s and travels through summer meadows, snowy ridges and other biomes inspired by real-life locations. The dynamic cycle of day and night and weather conditions make each outing different from the previous one.
Survival tools include a winch and sand trucks: a car stuck in the river will have to be pulled out yourself. There are portals scattered throughout the world that open up new areas, as well as hidden objects, off-road challenges and secrets. You can travel alone or in co-op with up to four players.
According to Funselektor founder Dune Kasu, the game was born from his travels around North America in a motorhome: the team wanted to convey the feeling of solitude in the middle of the wild. Over the Hill will be the studio's fourth car game after Absolute Drift, art of rally and manager Golden Lap.
