Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance - Gundraz the Dragon, the Floating Islands, and the Return of Teostra

As part of Tokyo Game Show 2026, Capcom held a Capcom Spotlight broadcast dedicated to the addition of Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance. The main antagonist is the huge elder dragon Gundraza, whose power allows him to control storms and disrupt entire flocks of monsters.

Outside the Isolated Massif, hunters await the floating islands of the Sky Nest, a new map with vertical locations where hunting reaches a new level. These lands are home to another legend of the series: Teostra returns to challenge even the veterans.

New equipment

Hunters will receive two mounts: Boost Bracer and Boost Driver. The first turns Secretet's guide into a flying vehicle and allows him to move through the air, and the second allows him to use the Guild's invention to move along vertical surfaces and rocks. Both tools change the approach to location research.

The plot of the add-on revolves around the Madoi fortress and the time jump that will lead the hunters to their first meeting with Gundraza. Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance is scheduled to release in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with a version for Nintendo Switch 2 coming later. Monster Hunter Wilds itself will appear on Switch 2 on December 6, 2026.
