Metroid Ravenous announced: new 2D action game for Nintendo Switch 2 will be released on January 28, 2027
At the September Nintendo Direct presentation, Nintendo announced Metroid Ravenous , a new 2D entry in the legendary series. The game will be released exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 on January 28, 2027 .
The main feature of Ravenous is the redesigned, much more aggressive combat. Samus will learn counterattacks with precise timing and combos, and will also be able to absorb the energy of defeated enemies. As the trailer's slogan says: “eat or be eaten.”
What was shown in the trailer

- New suit and counterattack abilities
- Mechanics of absorbing enemy energy
Visually, the game looks noticeably more energetic than the previous parts: dynamic transitions between scenes, large bosses and detailed backgrounds.
Collector's Edition
Along with the announcement, Nintendo showed new amiibo figures for the game - they will be on sale for release. Details about the collector's edition will be revealed later.
Metroid Ravenous is the first full-fledged 2D episode of the series in many years and, of course, one of the main Switch 2 exclusives for the start of 2027.
