Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake will receive three graphics styles - Ubisoft showed a “classic” mode
Ubisoft has released a new development diary for Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake, in which it responded to the main complaint of fans after the debut showing of the game - the visual style. The remake will feature the Playstyles system: three ready-made camera design and behavior presets, as well as a fully customizable mode for those who want to create their own version.
The gameplay of the 1999 original is safe: exploring the map, developing heroes, collecting armies and turn-based battles on a hexagonal grid remains the same. The presentation is being reworked - the game is built on the Snowdrop engine, supports 4K, dynamic lighting, changing weather and seasons. The Playstyles system allows you to customize color, lighting, object scale and camera, as well as gameplay parameters: combat and movement speed, turning off animations.
Classic - "The erathia you remember"
The Classic preset is designed for veterans of the original. Its goal, as the developers put it, is to “recreate the Erathia you remember, so that experienced players will feel at home from the very beginning.” The color grading is close to the soft "oil painting" aesthetic of the 1999 original. The sizes of creatures, heroes and a number of objects on the map are specially increased for better readability, and the camera is raised higher and moved further than in early trailers: the view is noticeably wider. Ubisoft has published a direct comparison of the "classic" mode with the original.
Immersive and Strategy
Immersive style, on the other hand, lowers the camera closer to the ground. His priorities are modern graphics quality, seamless display of the world without abrupt transitions, and maximum immersion in the atmosphere of Erathia.
Strategy style is designed for experienced strategy fans who value speed and efficiency of decisions: camera smooth transitions are disabled here, and the adventure map grid and stamina points are highlighted for maximum clarity.
Let us remind you that Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake will be released in 2027 on PC (Steam, Ubisoft Connect, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game will include the original campaign and both expansions - Armageddon's Blade and The Shadow of Death. Closed testing of the project will start soon.
