Gears of War: E-Day - release date October 6, open beta and new gameplay
The Coalition studio and Xbox Game Studios have announced the exact release date for Gears of War: E-Day - October 6, 2026 . The game will be released on Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), and will also immediately appear in the Xbox Game Pass subscription.
Plot and setting
E-Day takes place 14 years before the original trilogy, on the day when the underground Locust race first broke out onto the surface of the planet Sera. Players will see young Marcus Fenix and his brother Dom Santiago in the first hours of the disaster, when humanity did not yet understand the scale of the threat.
Gameplay and technology
- Iconic cover shooter with modern mobility and verticality
- Reworked weapons of the series and new models for close combat
- Two-player campaign modes, Horde Siege and Versus
- Split screen on consoles for two players
- Unreal Engine 5 with 4K and 60 FPS on modern systems
The open beta will take place from August 6 to August 10, 2026 for everyone who pre-orders. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate owners will receive early access.
