End of Abyss is out: a top-down horror game from the former creators of Little Nightmares

On October 1, 2026, End of Abyss was released, an atmospheric sci-fi horror game with a top-down view from the studio Section 9 Interactive. The game is published by Epic Games Publishing and is available on PC (Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Section 9 Interactive was founded by veterans of Tarsier Studios, who created the first two parts of Little Nightmares, so tension, vulnerability of the hero in the face of a huge hostile world and a frightening atmosphere built on details are their recognizable style, which is noticeable here too.

What is End of Abyss about?

The main character is a young combat technician named Sal. She ventures into a mysterious underground research facility to investigate unexplained incidents, only to find herself in a crumbling world infested with twisted creatures.

The gameplay combines twin-stick shooter and metroidvania mechanics: Sal fights monsters, upgrades equipment, unlocks new tools, and returns to previously visited areas to get to previously inaccessible places. The environmental scanner plays an important role - with its help, the heroine finds hidden passages and secrets of the abandoned complex.
