EA SPORTS FC 27 Launches on September 25: New "The Grounds" Mode, Improved Gameplay, and Early Access
Electronic Arts has announced the release date for EA SPORTS FC 27—the soccer simulation will launch on September 25, 2026, on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2. Owners of the Ultimate and Ultimate Plus editions will receive early access starting September 18.
The main new feature: The Grounds mode
The centerpiece of FC 27 will be The Grounds—an open-world social hub inspired by NBA 2K. Players will be able to create an avatar, travel between locations inspired by Paris, London, and Buenos Aires, play Rush mode, complete challenges, and interact with other players.
The mode is available only on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, and Switch 2. The Grounds will sync with progress in “Clubs” mode—characters can level up in both modes simultaneously.
Gameplay Changes
The developers promise significant improvements:
- New dribbling mechanics when losing balance—players with high balance and agility stats will be able to maintain control of the ball after collisions
- Improved defense—no more automatic steals, more opportunities for manual defense
- Redesigned corner kicks—the ability to control positioning in real time before taking the kick
- Creative runs—forwards will better recognize open space and the intent behind passes
Additionally, the manager career mode will feature a full-fledged transfer market with realistic player valuations and dynamic ratings based on physical and mental condition.
Editions and Prices
The game will be released in three editions:
- Standard — $70
- Ultimate — $100 (early access + 6,000 FC Points)
- Ultimate Plus — $150 (early access + 10,000 FC Points + Season Passes 1–5)
Russian language support will be included in the game, but Russian commentators will most likely not be added—the licenses for the voices of Georgy Cherdantsev and Konstantin Genich expired before FC 26 was released.
