Dead by Daylight apologizes for free DLC to streamer TheBurntPeanut
Behavior Interactive published an official statement in X on November 1, 2026: the studio apologized to the Dead by Daylight community after the scandal surrounding streamer TheBurntPeanut, who was given free access to all of the game's paid content.
What happened
TheBurntPeanut is an anonymous VTuber who has become one of the main Twitch phenomena of the last year. According to Streams Charts, in January 2026, he became the most watched streamer on the platform with 11.35 million hours watched, beating Asmongold, Caedrel and Hassan. The streamer is known mainly for broadcasting ARC Raiders and Escape from Tarkov, and, judging by the reaction of the audience, practically does not play Dead by Daylight.
When players found out that he was given access to all the game's additions for free, the community erupted: regular users have been buying dozens of chapters for years at full price, but for a streamer who is not even part of the community, everything turned out to be for nothing. A wave of criticism reached the developers in a matter of days.
Official studio reaction
In a statement on November 1, Behavior Interactive admitted that the decision to provide free content was made without the necessary internal approvals . The studio apologized to the community and stated that it was reviewing internal processes to ensure that a similar situation does not happen again.
- The statement appeared on the studio's official account in X on November 1, 2026
- The studio admitted an error in the procedure for approving such initiatives
- The fate of the content issued to the streamer was not specified separately in the statement.
Dead by Daylight was released in 2016 and remains one of the longest-running asymmetric horror games on the market: in ten years it has received several dozen paid chapters with new killers and survivors, as well as dozens of crossovers with films, TV series and other games. It was the volume of the paid catalog that made the streamer’s “gift” so sensitive to the audience.
