Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement - TGS 2026 Gameplay Trailer and Postponement to 2027

During the Xbox broadcast dedicated to Tokyo Game Show 2026, a new gameplay trailer for Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement, a sequel to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, which is being developed by ArtPlay studio led by Koji Igarashi and publisher 505 Games, was shown. At the same time, it became known that the release had been moved to 2027.

The action takes place in England in the 16th century, long before the events of the original. Hanging over the country is the flying demonic castle of Lord Elias, whose legions are terrorizing the area. Two new heroes stand against the demons: Leonard Brandon, a young warrior of the Order of the Black Wolves, and Dominic, a renegade magician with his own reasons for fighting the lord of the castle.

Castlevania Legacy

Like the first part, Scarlet Engagement is positioned as a spiritual successor to Castlevania: here is the same metroidvania with leveling up, an arsenal of weapons and magic, familiar demons and rhythmic bosses, but in a new setting and with paired protagonists. The developers promise larger levels, connected by a single world around a flying fortress.

Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement is scheduled to release in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.
