Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 Released — 4-Player Co-op, New Specialist Class and Romulus DLC
Today, August 25, 2026, saw the release of the co-op shooter Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 from Cold Iron Studios. The game is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
What's new in the sequel
The second installment keeps the atmosphere of the original while adding significant changes. The biggest one is the squad expansion from three to four players. The developers reworked team interaction mechanics to make co-op more strategic.
There is also a new class — Specialist. Unlike the others, it is fully customizable: players can combine primary and secondary abilities from other classes to fit their playstyle.
Enemies and locations
In Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, players will face not only the familiar xenomorphs but also new threats. The game features enemies inspired by the film Prometheus — organisms based on the Pathogen. Along the way you will also encounter Weyland-Yutani combat androids and robotic spiders of various sizes.
Editions and DLC
The standard digital edition is priced at $49.99. A premium edition celebrating the franchise's 40th anniversary is also available for $69.99, including cosmetic content tied to Ellen Ripley and the character Rain Carradine from the film Alien: Romulus.
A DLC based on Alien: Romulus launched on release day, adding new materials to the film's universe.
Cross-platform multiplayer
The game supports full cross-platform multiplayer across all platforms. For solo play, the developers significantly improved companion AI — according to the Cold Iron team, in some situations bots can be more effective than random players.
The sequel's events take place 28 years after the events of the film Aliens and five years after the first game. Players take on the role of Colonial Marines sent to a Weyland-Yutani ship overrun by xenomorphs.
