1666: Amsterdam Has Launched in Early Access — A Game from the Creator of Assassin's Creed Set in a Dark Amsterdam (2026)

On August 25, 2026, Panache Digital Games—led by Patrice Desile, the creator of the first Assassin's Creed games—released its new project, 1666: Amsterdam, in Early Access on PC (Steam and the Epic Games Store). It is a narrative action-adventure set in 17th-century Amsterdam, a city inhabited by supernatural creatures.

The game’s story unfolds in a world where an ancient power awakens every 333 years. Players will explore the gloomy streets of the Dutch capital, investigate mysterious crimes, and battle monsters hiding among ordinary townspeople. The game combines elements of detective work, environmental exploration, and dark fantasy.

According to the developers, the early version of the game already offers about 15 hours of gameplay. Key features:

• A deep narrative with a branching storyline and moral choices;
• An investigation system that requires analyzing clues and questioning witnesses;
• A combat system emphasizing tactics and the use of the environment;
• A unique atmosphere of Amsterdam in 1666 with historically accurate locations;
• Supernatural elements integrated into a realistic setting.

The game is available only on PC; console versions have not yet been announced. The developers plan to actively update the game during its Early Access period, adding new story chapters, locations, and gameplay mechanics based on community feedback.

1666: Amsterdam is positioned as the spiritual successor to the ideas established in the first games of the Assassin’s Creed series, but with a darker and more mature presentation.
