Final Trailer for Star Wars Zero Company: Tactical Game from XCOM Veterans Releases August 27 (2026)

Electronic Arts, Lucasfilm Games, and Bit Reactor have published the final trailer for the tactical strategy game Star Wars Zero Company. The trailer was released on August 17, 2026, and became the last major showcase of the game before its launch on August 27 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Story and Setting

The game's events unfold at the twilight of the Clone Wars — a period when the Republic still holds on, but the shadows of the Separatists are gathering over the galaxy. The protagonist is a former Republic officer named Hawks, who by the will of fate has come to lead a mercenary squad called Zero Company.

According to the plot, Hawks and his squad receive orders to eliminate the threat posed by the antagonist Kundri Fathom and her militarized cult the Infinite Coil, which jeopardizes the stability of the entire galaxy. The developers promise a completely original story created in close collaboration with Lucasfilm Games.

Gameplay: XCOM in the Star Wars Universe

The lead developer is Bit Reactor — a studio founded by Greg Foertsch, former art director of XCOM: Enemy Unknown and XCOM 2. The resemblance to the Firaxis series is obvious: players will manage an operations base known as The Den, equip fighters, and embark on turn-based tactical missions.

Zero Company's squad includes fighters from different factions: a Clone Trooper, a Mandalorian, a Jedi Padawan, and others. Eight species from the universe are available for character customization: Devaronian, Neimoidian, Human, Twi'lek, Ovissian, Togruta, Weequay, and Zabrak. Players will be able to upgrade their fighters' skills, improve the base, and select equipment for each mission.

One of the key mechanics is permanent death for squad members. If a favorite character dies on a mission, the story continues without them. This adds tension to every tactical decision. According to the authors, a full playthrough will take about 30-40 hours.

Scale and Locations

The developers claim that the game will feature one of the largest and most interactive maps in the history of Star Wars games — over 150 locations on different planets. Each mission involves tactical planning and adapting to changing combat conditions.

The final trailer, approximately two minutes long, demonstrates the story setup, cinematic cutscenes, and gameplay excerpts. Fans were particularly excited by the appearance of Captain Rex from The Clone Wars in the trailer. Critics and bloggers who tried the preview build note the well-written dialogues, quality facial animation, and solid voice acting.

Editions and Pricing

Star Wars Zero Company will be released in two editions. The Standard edition costs $49.99 on PC and $59.99 on consoles. The Deluxe edition is priced at $59.99 on PC and $69.99 on consoles — it includes two cosmetic packs ("Grand Army of the Republic" and "Shadow Collective") plus five exclusive weapon skin themes.

All pre-orders will receive the bonus Crystalline Astromech Cosmetic Pack, which includes an R3 droid, crystalline heads for R4 and R5 droid variants, and the BR-1 droid.

Player Interest

As of now, the number of Star Wars Zero Company additions to Steam wishlists has exceeded one million, indicating high audience interest in the project. Russian language support, unfortunately, has not been announced.

The game launches on August 27, 2026, on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
