"Dune: Awakening" will be released on consoles on September 22, 2026

The Norwegian studio Funcom has officially announced the release date for the console version of *Dune: Awakening*. The game will be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on September 22, 2026. As a reminder, the PC version of the game launched in early access in June of this year and has received mostly positive reviews from players.

What Is Dune: Awakening

Dune: Awakening is an open-world survival MMO set in the desert universe of Arrakis, created by author Frank Herbert. Players take on the role of survivors stranded on a planet where water is more precious than gold, and giant sandworms make traveling across open terrain deadly.

The gameplay combines elements of survival, crafting, and large-scale multiplayer battles. Players must gather water, craft stiltsuits to protect themselves from the sand, build shelters, and form factions to control territories and resources.

Features of the Console Version

The console release of Dune: Awakening will feature a number of improvements over the PC version at launch. The developers have added exclusive content as part of the Filmic Archive update, which includes new quests tied to Denis Villeneuve’s cinematic universe, as well as unique cosmetic items.

Cross-play support has also been confirmed across all platforms—PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. This will allow players to join the same worlds regardless of their chosen platform.

On PlayStation 5, the game will run in two modes: Performance (60 FPS at dynamic 4K) and Quality (native 4K at 30 FPS with enhanced graphics). The Xbox Series S version will run at a target resolution of 1440p at 60 FPS.
