The Exit 8, Platform 8 and Shinkansen 0: All Anomalies, Rules and Endings (2026)

The "spot the anomaly" genre exploded in 2023–2024: The Exit 8, Platform 8 and Shinkansen 0 — three horrors by Japanese developer KOTAKE CREATE, where you are trapped in a looping space and must notice changes to escape. Short games, dozens of anomalies, viral on streams — and almost no complete English walkthrough. Fixed: all anomalies of the three games, rules and endings in one article.

Shinkansen 0 — the green zone with an anomalous passenger

How to play "anomaly games": the general rules

All three games share one logic: the space loops, and you walk the same corridor (car, passage) over and over. The task is to compare the current loop with the previous one.

  • NO anomaly — move forward (toward the exit / next car).
  • Anomaly present — turn around and go back. The loop resets and your counter advances.
  • A mistake sends you back to the start. Reporting an anomaly that is not there, or walking past one — resets the counter.
  • Memorize the "reference" look of the location: poster positions, mannequins, signs, lighting, the view outside.

Progress is shown on a display: "Exit 8" counts from 0 to 8, "Platform 8" from 0 to 8, "Shinkansen 0" has a blue zone and then a green one (the rule reverses there!).

The Exit 8: all anomalies

A looping underground passage with a yellow tactile strip. Goal: go from loop 0 to loop 8. Around 35 anomalies (update 1.0.9 added new ones).

Anomalies with the walking man

  • The man stands still but runs away as you approach.
  • The man walks toward you — grows in size.
  • The man walks toward you — teleports closer.
  • The man stands and stares at you — do not approach.
  • The man runs along the ceiling.
  • The man is a mannequin.
  • The man stands off the pathway.
  • The man is a child walking toward you.
  • The man tilts his head.

Anomalies with posters and signs

  • The poster near the door changes location.
  • Posters change content.
  • Hieroglyphs on the signs are distorted or flipped.
  • Posters appear on the right wall (reference: left wall only).
  • The yellow line on the wall shifts.
  • The "No smoking" sign turns into "Smoking area".
  • A wall sign turns into a flickering screen with an image.
  • Poster images move closer to you.
  • Navigation signs point the other way.

Door anomalies

  • The door on the left side is open.
  • The door on the left side disappears.
  • The door on the right side opens.

Yellow pathway and water anomalies

  • The strip leads to the right wall instead of straight ahead.
  • The strip shifts sideways.
  • A wet trail leads to the right.
  • A growing puddle appears on the floor.

Lighting anomalies

  • Lights flicker or go out.
  • Extra lamps on the walls.
  • Emergency lighting (dark red glow).
  • Ceiling lamps turn off one by one as you advance.
  • The door indicator glows green instead of red.

Other anomalies

  • The big yellow "Exit 8" sign flickers.
  • The camera slowly tilts left or right.
  • Passage sounds grow louder (rising hum).
  • A big head peeks from around the corner.
  • A mannequin appears on the path.
  • A small mannequin flies at you.
  • A hand reaches from the right wall.
  • The floor ripples in waves.
  • A creature crawls toward you.
  • The left wall is transparent: flowers and a silhouette behind it.
  • A big man appears who watches you.
  • A silhouette behind the right wall stares at you.

Platform 8: all anomalies and endings

An infinite train: cars with mannequins, windows, doors. There are 31 anomalies here, and some are not just "see it and turn back" — they are full scenarios with their own rules.

Regular anomalies (turn around and leave)

  • Mannequins change poses or count.
  • An extra mannequin stands in the aisle.
  • Eyes outside the window: one, several, or a whole forest of eyes.
  • Hands reach from under the seats.
  • The floor is covered with water or grass.
  • Lights flicker, go out or glow red.
  • Posters change, eyes appear on them.
  • The car number display disappears or shows a different number.
  • The door at the end of the car is open or missing.
  • A crawling man chases you.
  • A sobbing woman sits in a seat.
  • A fellow passenger appears in a seat.

Scenario anomalies (with their own rules)

  • The girl in red — "red light, green light": while she looks at you — stand still; when she turns away — walk. Reach the end of the car — then leave back.
  • The hider: a creature hides behind seats. Approach it closely before it stands up — then turn around.
  • The woman at the end of the car: do NOT look away from her — walk toward her backwards until you pass, then leave.
  • The "find the anomaly" sign: five changes in the car at once — inspect all five, then leave back.
  • The display with code 894: go forward to the end, there is a door with a code lock — enter 894, then turn around.
  • The man walking at you: do not turn around right away — wait until he is right next to you, and only then leave.

Platform 8 endings

  • Normal: complete 8 loops with anomalies — you exit the train.
  • Bad: after loop 0 walk forward without anomalies — the train departs into the fog, the screen fills with haze.
  • Secret: find ALL 31 anomalies in a single run — the true exit.

Shinkansen 0: all anomalies

A bullet train where the rule is flipped. Blue zone (regular cars): no anomaly — forward, anomaly — back. Green zone (green seats, dim light, ghost passengers): the rule reverses — anomaly — FORWARD, none — back. Three mistakes in a row — a ghost chases you. About 50 anomalies total: ~25 in the blue zone and ~25 in the green.

Blue zone anomalies

  • A passenger's face is distorted, smiling or staring at you.
  • An extra passenger or an empty seat where someone sat.
  • A child standing in the aisle.
  • A hand reaching from under a seat.
  • Eyes or a silhouette outside the window.
  • The window shows night, a tunnel or nothing.
  • The door at the end of the car is open, missing or flickering.
  • Lights flicker, go out, dim or glow red.
  • The "This is Shin…" display flickers or shows gibberish.
  • Wall posters change or new ones appear.
  • The ceiling leaks, a puddle on the floor.
  • Draft: papers flying, curtains moving.
  • A hand or a face stretches above your head.
  • All passengers stand up at once.
  • Sounds: knocking, whispering, reversed announcements.

Green zone anomalies

  • Green eyes in the darkness between seats.
  • Ghost passengers are semi-transparent, flicker or vanish.
  • The conductor's face is distorted.
  • A figure stands motionless in the aisle.
  • A suitcase on a seat breathes or moves.
  • Windows are fully black; reflections are not yours.
  • Car doors slam by themselves.
  • Light shines only above you — the rest is darkness.
  • Posters with faces or empty frames.
  • The car floor vanishes: starry void beneath.
  • Announcements whisper your name.
  • A giant shadow passes the car.

Shinkansen 0 endings

  • Normal: reach the end of the green zone and exit — the car empties, you are on the platform.
  • Secret: complete the game without a single mistake (or by secret conditions) — the true nature of the Shinkansen.

Tips for all three games

  • Change the camera angle: some anomalies are only visible from the side or above.
  • Memorize the reference by 3–4 anchors: poster, sign, mannequin, light.
  • In Shinkansen 0, mentally switch the rule before the green zone — most mistakes happen there.
  • In Platform 8, scenario anomalies reward patience: read the behavior rule to the end.
  • Do not rush: haste is the main cause of a reset counter in these games.
